SALON SUCCESS IN 2010
22nd December 2010
I started this year really in April by winning the “Image of The Year” in our own end-of-year competition / exhibition. This is one of the most coveted prizes in our club, Dundalk Photographic Society, and I have been very lucky to win this award twice.
At home I entered the An Oige 72nd Anual Exhibition in Dublin and was awarded three gold medals, one bronze and two highly commended. Best colour print, best monochrome print and best overall print in the exhibition was indeed a major achievement – at times success at home is more difficult to achieve.
Then the first of the International successes came in. In the 14th Gran Tour Delle Colline in Italy I was awarded a UPI Gold Medal (United Photographers International), $500 and the title of Migliore Opera – The Best Work - Trofeo Colline del Pratomagno .
Another UPI Gold was awarded in the 34th International Photography Exhibition – CHILD 2010 in Serbia.
Then a Salon Praise in the 6th International Photography Exhibition – ROCK 2010, again in Serbia.
A Salon Silver medal followed in CELJE - 2010 – 4th International Salon of Digital Photography in Slovenia.

In the 31st Northern Counties Salon of Photography 2010 I was awarded a Judge’s Medal.
At home in Tallaght Photographic Society 2010 International Salon I was awarded two FIAP Ribbons.
In the 36th Smethwick International Exhibition of Photography 2010 I achieved seven Highly Commended Awards.
The final success was as part of a team representing our club – Dundalk Photographic Society. We won the 5th FIAP World Cup for Clubs. Not only did we win the competition but another Irish club, Celbridge Camera Club, achieved third place. This is a major achievement and a great year for Irish photography.
So,in total, that amounts to 188 acceptances with a total of 25 awards in National & International Competitions in 2010 - a successful year by any standards !
Since starting out entering salons in 2004 I have amassed 475 acceptances with 47 awards in National & International photographic salons / competitions.
